Vanessa Richardson is currently in her fourth season as the Houston Rockets sideline reporter, as well as a host/reporter for ESPN. She has received three Emmy awards for her work with the Rockets.

She currently hosts ESPN's "Hoop Streams" alongside Iman Shumpert. During the 2026 NBA Finals, their Game 1 show garnered over 7 million views. She has served as a sideline reporter for ESPN's NBA coverage as well as radio sideline reporter for the Conference Finals and the Finals. She began her national ESPN career as a fill-in radio host in 2022.

Previously, Vanessa hosted a sports talk radio show for ESPN 97.5, ESPN's radio affiliate in Houston, serving as one of few women to drive a weekday sports radio show in a top ten market. She also appeared on national NBC broadcasts covering motor sports, and served as a pregame and postgame host for MLB.

Vanessa spent two years as a sports anchor/reporter for KPRC, the NBC affiliate in Houston. While at KPRC, she conducted the first exclusive interview with newly fired Astros GM Jeff Luhnow following the Astros cheating scandal, covered JJ Watt’s final seasons with the Texans, and broke news surrounding Texans QB Deshaun Watson. Prior to KPRC, Vanessa worked at the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati.

She has covered the NBA Finals, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, MLB All Star weekend, the NFL Combine, and the Indy 500 for various media outlets. The Indiana native got her start as the in-arena Jumbotron host for the Pacers, as well as serving as a sports correspondent for the nationally syndicated "Bob and Tom" Show.

Her true passion is telling exciting human-interest stories that go way beyond highlights and stats, be it in the studio or on the sideline.
